Position: Volunteer Event Organizer
Location: In person
Reports to: Executive Director
Time Commitment: 4 hours per week, duration of commitment, or event-specific involvement.
Position Overview:
Join us as a Special Event Organizer and play a vital role in creating meaningful and memorable events that bring people together across generations and celebrate diverse cultures! We are looking for passionate, organized individuals to plan and execute events for groups ranging from 20 to 100 participants. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact, foster intergenerational understanding, and develop valuable event-planning skills. Whether you're experienced or just eager to contribute, we would love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and execute events with a focus on intergenerational understanding and cultural celebration.
- Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, catering, entertainment, transportation, and guest accommodations.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to create inclusive, engaging, and culturally rich experiences for participants.
- Manage event timelines, schedules, and budgets to ensure smooth execution.
- Liaise with community members, vendors, performers, and speakers to secure resources and partnerships.
- Oversee event setup, breakdown, and on-the-day coordination to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- Work with the marketing team to promote events via social media, email, and other channels.
- Solicit and collect feedback from participants to improve future events.
- Ensure that all events are accessible, welcoming, and inclusive to diverse audiences.
Qualifications:
- Passionate about event planning, culture, and fostering community connections.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work well under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse groups.
- Creative and resourceful in developing event themes and concepts that promote cultural understanding.
- Experience in event planning or coordination is a plus, but not required.
- Comfortable working in a team as well as independently.
