Position: Media Workshop Facilitator (Volunteer)

Time Commitment: 2 hours per week
Position Overview:
Sow A Seed Community Foundation is seeking a passionate and creative Media Workshop Facilitator to lead hands-on media workshops for our Youth Media Interns. The facilitator will empower youth by teaching essential skills in film production, photo editing, compelling journaling, blogging, vlogging, and content creation. These workshops will help the youth become storytellers and advocates for social action on issues that matter to them and their communities. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in media arts and is passionate about mentoring and inspiring young people to use their voices to create change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and facilitate engaging workshops in the areas of film, photo editing, journaling, blogging, vlogging, and digital content creation.
- Teach technical skills related to media production, such as video filming and editing, photography techniques, and graphic design for online platforms.
- Guide youth on how to produce compelling stories and content that reflect their perspectives and community issues.
- Assist interns in creating impactful social media campaigns, blogs, vlogs, and other forms of digital storytelling aimed at promoting social action.
- Provide mentorship and individualized support to help youth interns refine their ideas and projects.
- Encourage a collaborative and inclusive environment where all participants feel valued and supported.
- Work with youth interns to identify and explore issues important to their communities, such as education, social justice, mental health, or environmental challenges.
- Provide feedback on youth-created content to help them grow their skills and confidence.
- Collaborate with the Youth Media Program team to align projects with broader organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Experience in media production, digital storytelling, content creation, or related fields.
- Proficient in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro), photo editing tools (e.g., Photoshop, Lightroom), and social media platforms.
- Strong understanding of blogging, vlogging, and creating content for various digital platforms (e.g., YouTube, Instagram, TikTok).
- Experience teaching or facilitating workshops, especially with youth, is highly preferred.
- Passionate about youth development, social action, and advocacy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage young people.
- Patience, creativity, and adaptability in working with diverse groups of youth with different skill levels.
- Commitment to promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
